PreK- Grade 8 Saint Bernard’s offers full religious education from Pre K through Grade 8. Classes are conveniently scheduled between our two Sunday morning Masses. Instruction is given by parent/teachers who are very engaged in the learning process. “The Image of God” book series maintains continuity and teaches all facets of our faith. Confirmation: Grades 9/10 Our Confirmation program is a solid 2 year program lead by experienced instructional staff. Confirmation classes are held in parishioners’ homes.
Why
is it a two year program? Young people, at this age, are growing both socially and spiritually and a two year program uses this growth to ensure they enter adulthood with a sound spiritual base at a time when they are challenged by the secular culture. In addition to individual classes, several group classes are held each year utilizing speakers on topics such as: chastity, pro-life, the occult and vocations. All Confirmandi are expected to complete at lest 16 service hours before being confirmed. There is also a mentoring program in the months just before receiving Confirmation. Our youth in the program must take one retreat each of their two years, with a choice of two different style retreats. Most have found it both meaningful and FUN! Those who enrolled in the program, who demonstrate potential, have opportunity to become lectors reading scriptures during scheduled weekend Masses.
Throughout our entire religious ed. program, our main goal is to connect young persons knowledge of God with his/her heart to start a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and use well their Catholic Sacraments and worship to strengthen their faith life. The Confirmation Program provides Spiritual growth for our youth who are striving to become full participating members of our faith. One of the many enriching programs includes a summer trip to Steubenville East Conference. The Program includes both large group and small group activities.
